Hector the Vector

Terms of service

Last updated 23 September 2026

These are the terms you agree to when you use Hector the Vector. They are meant to be read, so they are written in plain English rather than in the usual fog.

Who you are dealing with. Hector the Vector is a sole trader business in the United Kingdom, at postcode EC2Y 8AY. Write to hello@hectorthevector.com and a person will answer, normally within two working days. Our full postal address is available on request by email, and is held by our payment provider.

The price you see is the whole amount you pay. Nothing is added at the checkout.

What Hector does

You give Hector a picture — a PNG, a JPG, a WEBP. Hector turns it into a vector: an SVG made of shapes and curves rather than pixels, which stays sharp at any size. Looking at the result costs nothing. Taking the SVG file away is what a plan is for.

Your account

An account is an email address. There is no password: you ask to sign in, we email a six‑digit code, and the code signs you in. Keep your email account secure, because anyone who can read your email can sign in as you. Tell us at hello@hectorthevector.com if you think someone else has got in.

You need to be old enough to enter a contract where you live — in the UK, 18.

Converting is free

You can convert as many pictures as you like without paying and without an account, and look at every result as closely as you like. We ask only that you use it like a person rather than like a script: see Fair use below.

Plans, downloads, and the month

A plan lets you download the SVG files themselves. Plans are £6.99 a month for 100 downloads, £29.99 a month for 1,000. A download means one picture, not one file: once you have downloaded a picture, you can download it again — in any of our styles, as many times as you like, for as long as you have an account — and it never counts twice.

The count resets at the start of each billing month. Downloads you did not use do not roll over into the next month. If you run out, you can wait for the reset or move to a larger plan, which starts immediately.

Paying

Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. Prices are in pounds sterling and are the whole amount you pay; nothing is added. Your plan renews automatically each month until you stop it, and Stripe emails you a receipt every time.

If a payment fails, Stripe retries it over a few days and your plan keeps working while it does. If it never succeeds, the plan ends and your account returns to free use.

Stopping

Cancel whenever you like, from your account page or by emailing us. You keep your plan until the end of the month you have already paid for, and you are not charged again. See Refunds & cancellation for when money comes back.

Your pictures stay yours

You keep every right you had in the pictures you upload, and in the vectors Hector makes from them. We claim no ownership of either, and we do not use your pictures to train anything, show them to anyone, or sell them. We use them for one thing: doing the conversion you asked for, and keeping the result where you can find it again.

Upload only pictures you are allowed to upload. If you do not hold the rights to an image, converting it here does not give you any.

Fair use

Please do not: hammer the service with automated requests, resell or repackage Hector as your own, try to get at the SVG without a plan, upload anything unlawful, or attempt to break, overload or reverse‑engineer the service. We may slow down or close an account doing any of these, and we will tell you why.

What we make, and what we promise

Hector is automatic. It is very good at drawings, logos, icons and illustrations, and less good at photographs, and no automatic tool matches what a person with a pen can do. That is why looking is free and unlimited: check the result before you pay for it.

We work hard to keep the service up, but we cannot promise it is never down. We are not liable for losses we could not reasonably have foreseen, and our liability to you is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before the problem. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and none of it affects your rights under UK consumer law — those rights come first, always.

Changes

If we change these terms in a way that matters to you, we will email you before the change takes effect, and you can cancel if you do not like it. The date at the top of this page tells you when it last changed.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts there can hear any dispute. If you live elsewhere in the UK you keep the right to bring a case in your own country's courts.
